I had an incredible visit to the NUS ECE Department last week. It was such a pleasure to finally meet John Chong Min Tan, who’s done exciting ARC research—thank you, John, for taking such good care of me (even with your AgentJo talk at the Singapore AI Meetup that evening!) and for inviting me along to the event. A special thank you to Professor Mehul Motani, Kei Sen Fong, Dr. Rohan Ghosh, and the rest of the lab for a half-day of lively discussions. I was really inspired by the energy you’ve created in your group. It was especially meaningful to talk about the AGI assignment I’m designing—an intelligent system for solving Othello—and to get your feedback. Staying together at University Town—where so many undergraduates live—and doing my work during reading week, just like old times, felt wonderfully nostalgic. I’m also grateful for all the behind-the-scenes work—from arranging my accommodation to organizing the lab schedule—that made this visit so smooth. NUS holds a special place in my heart: I was an exchange student here back in 2010, and I never imagined I’d return one day as an invited speaker. It was as fun as it was nostalgic—thank you all for making it so memorable! I’ll be at ICLR until next Monday—see you at the conference venue!
